A kaleidoscope of activities promise to keep you occupied during your visit, whether its relaxation or fun-filled action you are seeking.

Should relaxation be on your menu, the picturesque setting of the lodge and the unique indulgence on offer will complete the picture. Lounge at the infinity pool with a refreshing cocktail while savouring the ambiance of the African bushveld with the roar of lions or the call of the fish eagle to complete the experience.

For some fun-filled action, engage in the assortment of activities on offer ranging from game drives and guided walks with our trained and informed rangers. Alternatively, opt for an outing on one of our bicycle trails, angling on the banks of the Limpopo river or some exciting bird watching. Home to more than three hundred different species of birds, the area is rightfully renowned as a birder’s paradise. Anglers can enjoy fishing along the Limpopo River or at the waterway in front of the lodge, or try your hand at a game of snooker or table tennis in Oom Dup se Witgatwortel Lapa while watching your favourite sports game on the big screen televisions.

The Lodge is situated in a Malaria free zone, making all outdoor activities safe for adults and children alike.

Game drive

DAY DRIVE:  R500 pp

Game drives usually take place in the early morning,  late afternoon, or at night, during the coolest times of the day when animals are more active. For some guests, these 1 hour long game drives are without doubt a thrilling highlight as there is nothing more tantalising than the sights, sounds, feel and smells of the African bush. Join one of our game rangers on an interesting and informative excursion in search of wildlife.

Inclusive of a bottle of water as well as two alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks per person.

River Cruise

An addition to the plethora of activities offered at Palala Boutique Game Lodge, is our popular river cruise – allow yourself to be taken on a slow and relaxing cruise on the Palala River, meandering into the Limpopo River. The riverine bushveld offers excellent bird watching opportunities and is also perfect for crocodile and hippo sightings. Guests can opt between 2 time slots as the boat departs daily at 12pm and 2pm. The river cruise is a 2 hour long excursion and includes a canapé buffet, as well as a bottle of water and two alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks per person.

Picnic

Indulge in a relaxing 2 hour experience. Soak up all the pleasures of living in the moment by enjoying one of our stylish picnics. Get outside, enjoy nature observe the plethora of birds and trees while indulging in our exquisite picnic eats and treats. Need we say more?

Guided walk

If you enjoy walking and hiking, our guided walk might just be for you. Get an up close glimpse of some of the animals roaming the 14,000 hectares of authentic bushveld landscape under the guidance of our trained and experienced rangers. The walk is a comfortable 2-3 hour guided tour and takes you exploring the reserve listening for any evidence of animals whilst the guide points out some interesting facts of the flora and flora found in the reserve.

Fishing

Anglers can enjoy a leisurely outing and opt to fish on the banks of the Limpopo River or at the waterway in front of the lodge. The Limpopo River snakes a total distance of over 1 750 km and along its route forms the border between Botswana and South Africa, where after it divides Zimbabwe and South Africa, before passing into Mozambique at Pafuri, where it finally flows into the Indian ocean. Anglers will be provided with bait, tackle and fishing rods. Our guides will gladly point you to the most popular spots to ensure you make the most of your outing.

Bicycle safari

Surrounded by 14,000 hectares of authentic bushveld, Palala Boutique Game Lodge is perfect for mountain biking enthusiasts who enjoy discovering and exploring nature. Guests can safely cycle on the reserve and opt to follow our 5 km or 10 km easy-going bicycle trail. Bicycles can be collected from the front desk. Spend your outing sightseeing our magnificent and authentic bushveld surroundings, and enjoy a refreshing swim in our sparkling infinity pool upon your return.

Birding

Unmistakably a birder’s paradise, guests will be spoilt for choice as more than three hundred species of birds have been catalogued in the area. With six special species already identified, you might be lucky enough to spot one or all them, look out for Meve’s Starling, Three-banded Courser, Tropical Boubou, White-crowned Lapwing, Kori Bustard and the White-backed Vulture.

Opt to relax on our deck overlooking the magnificent waterway in front of the lodge with its open water stretches, reed beds and mud flats creating the perfect location to spot over a hundred species. Alternatively, spend some time in our birding hide, or go on a birding drive with one of our skilled rangers.
